Submission — The Original Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Card Game
The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) card game that brings submissions to the table!
Fast, competitive, and perfect as a training tool for technique, names, and creativity on the mats.
BJJ IN YOUR HANDS!
Real BJJ, in card game form: a deck packed with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu submissions, split into upper body and lower body, for an experience that feels like sparring.
Submissions = the rhythm of the match: there’s always one face-up card on the table that defines the dominant submission type (upper body or lower body). Stay in the flow… or find a way to break it!
Reversal = switch levels, switch fate: if you can’t answer with the same submission type, play a Reversal and flip the dominance.
Positions & Maneuvers (P&M) = points that hurt: P&M cards, aka referee points, force your opponent to draw based on the points shown. Play them tactically to slow things down and create chaos!
Quick games anywhere: the winner is the first player to run out of cards by finishing with a submission as the last card!
How it works in detail:
-Each player gets 7 cards.
-One face-up card on the table determines Dominance: Upper Body or Lower Body.
-You must respond with the same type (upper vs upper, lower vs lower).
-If you don’t have a match:
you can use a Reversal to change dominance and play the opposite side of submissions, or
you draw until you find a valid card (match / Reversal / P&M).
-P&M cards can be played at any time (but never as the last card) and force your opponent to draw the indicated referee points.
What’s in the deck
-40 Upper Body Submission Cards
-40 Lower Body Submission Cards
-8 Reversal Cards
-12 Positions & Maneuvers (P&M) “Referee Points Cards”
Total: 100 cards.
Extra ideas (super useful for training)
-Training mode: draw a card and try that submission in sparring/technique (also as the “move of the day”).
-Technique memory: quick review of names and variations.
-Team / academy play: challenges with teammates, mini-tournaments, or as an idea for belt promotions (not just for kids!).
BJJ has a huge historical technical arsenal: inside you’ll find less “mainstream” techniques — they exist, they’re studied, and they’re part of the art’s knowledge base!
Frequently Asked Questions
Men's BJJ kimono sizes range from A0 to A5 based on height and weight. Women's sizes range from F1 to F5. Consult our size guide with a comparative height/weight chart to find your perfect fit.
Cotton gis can shrink by 5-10% on the first wash. We recommend buying a size up if you plan to machine wash it at 30°C. Pearl weave gis are more resistant to shrinkage.
The A1L (Long) size is designed for people who weigh the same as an A1 but are taller, with longer legs and sleeves. Ideal for those who are tall but have a light build.
The Gi is the traditional cotton kimono used in standard BJJ practice. No-Gi is practiced with a rashguard and shorts, without a kimono. Many practitioners train both to develop different techniques.
Pearl Weave (pearl weave) is the most common type of fabric used for BJJ gis. It offers an excellent balance between lightness and resistance to grips, is breathable, and dries faster than Gold Weave.
IBJJF-approved gis must comply with specific requirements regarding color (white, blue, black), sleeve and leg length, and fabric weight. Each product description indicates whether the gi is IBJJF approved.
Wash the item at 30°C on a delicate spin cycle, inside out to protect the embroidery. Avoid tumble drying as it may shrink. Hang to air dry, avoiding direct sunlight which fades colours.
