Their quest to develop the most comfortable training shorts ever is still on going, but they believe their new Shodan Shorts are really close to perfection thanks to their new fit and length.

The ultra light and flexible outer layer has been meticulously matched with an extremely comfortable 4 way stretch under pant that will fit around your waist and leg and feel by all means like a protective second layer of skin.

They have revised the leg length of these shorts in this new 2025 edition. We have removed 2 inches from the side for a perfect mid thigh modern fit.

It seems impossible but the overall weight of the shorts has not changed from traditional ones, just now the comfort level is now off the charts.

And new for 2025 the new Shodan shorts come in two editions - With pockets for everyday use at the gym and when working out, and with no pockets strictly for grappling! Choose below your favorite edition.

As expected Half Sumo hand drawn Irezumi style graphics were reproduced with high fidelity on the garment through ever lasting sublimation printing. In this unique edition we have sublimated on the underlayer all our favorite BJJ submissions in our unique Halfsumo style.

Additionally a mix of flat woven and rubberized patches adorn the short to give it not only a premium feel, but a unique look.

Two non intrusive side pockets with optimal velcro closures allow both for safe grappling and for carrying one's small belongings when at the gym or out and about.

How do I choose my BJJ kimono size?

Does BJJ gi shrink after washing?

Cotton gis can shrink by 5-10% on the first wash. We recommend buying a size up if you plan to machine wash it at 30°C. Pearl weave gis are more resistant to shrinkage.

What's the difference between size A1L and A1 in BJJ kimonos?

The A1L (Long) size is designed for people who weigh the same as an A1 but are taller, with longer legs and sleeves. Ideal for those who are tall but have a light build.

What is the difference between Gi and No-Gi in BJJ?

The Gi is the traditional cotton kimono used in standard BJJ practice. No-Gi is practiced with a rashguard and shorts, without a kimono. Many practitioners train both to develop different techniques.

What does Pearl Weave mean in kimono fabric?

Pearl Weave (pearl weave) is the most common type of fabric used for BJJ gis. It offers an excellent balance between lightness and resistance to grips, is breathable, and dries faster than Gold Weave.

Is my gi approved for IBJJF competitions?

IBJJF-approved gis must comply with specific requirements regarding color (white, blue, black), sleeve and leg length, and fabric weight. Each product description indicates whether the gi is IBJJF approved.

How to properly wash a BJJ gi?

Wash the item at 30°C on a delicate spin cycle, inside out to protect the embroidery. Avoid tumble drying as it may shrink. Hang to air dry, avoiding direct sunlight which fades colours.
